A round up of the visits and activities that the Mayor and Mayoress attended last week, and what a busy week it was!
In Barrow Town Hall last week there was the fantastic Booktastic initiative, that saw primary school children from numerous school in the area, come along to meet authors and enjoy book related activities. The Mayor and Mayoress went along to one session and had an enthusiastic update from the children, and even signed some of their books that they had been gifted!

A truly special and wonderful event, and congratulations to the organisers who welcomed them and introduced everyone.
They were delighted to accept an invitation to attend a delicious Afternoon Tea from the students of Entry 3 Pathway at Furness College
It was a really lovely afternoon and great to meet all the students and discuss their dreams and ambitions with them

On Wednesday evening they met St Perran’s Cub Scouts who were taking part in a historic search of Barrow for their Local Knowledge badge, starting at the Town Hall and ending at the bandstand in the Barrow Park. It was an exciting and enjoyable evening.

They also welcomed representatives from Mind in Furness into the Town Hall to discuss fundraising opportunities for this year, as one of the Mayor’s chosen charities. There wer some great ideas that we hope to take forward throughout this year.

Friday was another busy day when they had the pleasure to attend the launch of the Furness Sleep Helpline at Barrow Holiday Inn. It was great to meet all those that are working hard to support others.
And that evening they enjoyed time at the North West Music Academy for their grand reopening of their studio, whilst also being entertained with a piano concert by an amazing talented young man.
A busy and enjoyable week meeting lots of people doing amazing things in their communities and supporting people.
