Barrow Town Council would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported Armed Forces Week 2026, making it a memorable and fitting tribute to our Armed Forces community.

From the Military Parade and Armed Forces Flag Raising on Saturday 20th June to the Cadets, Reserves and Veterans Meet & Greet events held throughout the week, it was wonderful to see so many people come together to recognise the service and sacrifice of those who serve, or have served, our country.

The week culminated in a fantastic Barrow Armed Forces Day on Saturday 27th June, where residents and visitors enjoyed a full programme of entertainment, military displays, live music, community stalls, family activities and commemorative events. The town was filled with a fantastic atmosphere, demonstrating the pride and appreciation our community has for the Armed Forces.

Barrow Town Council would like to thank all of our partners who helped make the week such a success, including Westmorland and Furness Council, Barrow BID, BAE Systems, local military units, veterans’ organisations, cadet forces, community groups, volunteers, performers, exhibitors and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

A sincere thanks to the Deputy Town Clerk, Claire Nolan, herself a military veteran, whose vision and dedication were instrumental in bringing Armed Forces Week 2026 to life. She instigated, coordinated and managed the entire programme of events, working tirelessly with partner organisations, military representatives, businesses and volunteers to deliver a week that celebrated our Armed Forces community with pride and professionalism.
A special thank you goes to all those who took part in the military parades, services and commemorative events, helping to ensure that we honoured the dedication and sacrifices of our Armed Forces community with the respect they deserve.
Finally, thank you to everyone who attended throughout the week. Your support helped create a wonderful community celebration and demonstrated the strong connection that Barrow-in-Furness continues to have with the Armed Forces.
Together, we recognised the commitment of our serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and military families, and celebrated the invaluable contribution they make to our town and our nation.
Thank you, Barrow, for making Armed Forces Week 2026 such a tremendous success.
