The streets of Barrow came alive on Saturday as the annual Festival of Transport returned, attracting visitors from across the region for a celebration of classic vehicles, entertainment and community spirit.
The Mayor of Barrow, Cllr Kay Hyland, was delighted to attend the event, which has continued to grow in popularity year after year. With an impressive display of vintage cars, motorcycles and classic vehicles lining the town centre, the festival showcased the passion and dedication of vehicle owners who travelled from near and far to take part.
Throughout the day, visitors enjoyed a packed programme of entertainment, including energetic performances from Drum Nation, thrilling displays by the On The Edge Motorcycle Stunt Show, and a variety of attractions and activities for all ages.
Barrow BID also presented awards to a number of standout exhibits, including the Harry Potter car, a beautifully restored Triumph TR5, The Mustang Group, and the ever-popular Herbie. The competition for the best shop window displays was won by Specsavers and Burrows, whose creative displays added to the vibrant atmosphere across the town.
The Mayor’s chosen charity, CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young, was also represented at the event. Volunteers raised awareness of the charity’s important work while collecting donations, with more than £200 raised to support its life-saving campaigns and research.
The festival concluded with a spectacular parade of vehicles through the town centre, led by the Mayor in a beautifully restored vintage green Alvis, kindly owned and driven by John from Walney.
