Former Mayor of Barrow, Cllr Fred Chatfield, and Mayoress Mrs Liz Chatfield were delighted to welcome representatives from their chosen charities to the Mayor’s Parlour at Barrow Town Hall for the presentation of donations from the Mayor’s year of fundraising.
Throughout their mayoral year, Cllr and Mrs Chatfield undertook a programme of fundraising events and activities in support of their two nominated charities: Love Barrow Families and Mind in Furness. Thanks to the generosity of local residents, community groups, businesses and event attendees, significant funds were raised to support the vital work carried out by both organisations.
Representing Love Barrow Families were Alison and Dean, while Georgia attended on behalf of Mind in Furness to receive the donations.
Cllr Fred Chatfield said:
“Liz and I have thoroughly enjoyed supporting these two fantastic charities throughout our year in office. We have seen first-hand the positive impact they have on the lives of people across our community, and we are delighted to be able to present them with these funds. We would like to thank everyone who attended our fundraising events, donated, sponsored activities, and supported us throughout the year.”
Love Barrow Families provides practical support and assistance to families across the local area, while Mind in Furness offers essential mental health support and wellbeing services to individuals throughout the Furness community.
As their mayoral year comes to a close, Cllr and Mrs Chatfield expressed their gratitude to all those who contributed to the Mayor’s fundraising activities and wished both charities every success in their future work supporting local people.
Barrow Town Council would like to thank everyone who helped make the Mayor’s fundraising year such a success, demonstrating once again the generosity and community spirit that exists across Barrow.
