At the recent Annual Meeting of Barrow Town Council, Councillors formally elected Cllr Kay Hyland as the new Mayor of Barrow, following the handover of office from outgoing Mayor Cllr Fred Chatfield.

The meeting also marked a special milestone for the Town Council with the inaugural presentation of the Mayor’s Good Citizenship Awards.

The awards were created to recognise individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the community through voluntary service and dedication to helping others.

This year’s recipients were Mrs Anne Bispham and Mr Paul Thompson, both of whom were recognised for their tireless and selfless commitment to supporting people within the local community. Their contributions and voluntary efforts have had a positive impact on many residents across Barrow.

Family members joined both recipients at the meeting to celebrate the occasion and witness the presentation of their awards.

Barrow Town Council would like to congratulate Cllr Kay Hyland on becoming Mayor and thank Cllr Fred Chatfield for his service and commitment during his term of office.

The Town Council also extends its sincere congratulations and thanks to Mrs Anne Bispham and Mr Paul Thompson for their outstanding community service and for being the first recipients of the Mayor’s Good Citizenship Awards.
