Barrow Town Council is pleased to invite applications for the Mayor’s Cadet for the 2026/27 municipal year.
The role of the Mayor’s Cadet is to accompany the Mayor of Barrow-in-Furness to a number of appropriate civic events throughout the Mayoral year, including key occasions such as Remembrance Sunday.
At these events, the Mayor’s Cadet will support the Mayor by welcoming dignitaries and assisting with ceremonial duties. This may include tasks such as conducting readings at events or carrying a wreath on behalf of the Mayor.
The role also provides a visible link between the Mayor and the town’s uniformed youth organisations. It is considered both an honour and a recognition of the commitment and achievements of the successful applicant. The chosen Cadet will be presented with a badge to wear on their uniform during their year in office.
